Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026. OnDeviceFiles is built to require as little trust as possible: every file you process stays on your own device. This policy explains exactly what does and does not happen with your data.

The short version

  • Your files are never uploaded. All compression and conversion runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly.
  • We have no accounts, so we hold no personal profiles.
  • You can verify our claim yourself: disconnect from the internet — every tool keeps working.

File processing

All tools on this site operate entirely client-side. When you select a file, your browser reads it from disk, processes it in memory using WebAssembly or standard browser APIs, and offers the result back as a download. No file content is transmitted to us or to any third party at any point. Closing the tab erases everything.

What we collect

  • Tool usage collects nothing. The file tools have no accounts and ask for no identity — your files are processed locally and never sent anywhere.
  • The contact form is different. When you use the contact form, you voluntarily submit your name, email address and message. These three fields are sent by email so we can reply to you.
  • No tracking cookies from our own code. This site sets no first-party cookies of its own. Third-party ad and analytics partners may set cookies as described under Advertising below.
  • Anonymous traffic metrics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures page views without cookies and without fingerprinting individual visitors. No personally identifiable information is collected.

Contact form data

The contact form transmits your name, email and message over email (via Cloudflare's email infrastructure) to the site owner's inbox. We do not store these details in any database on this site, and we do not use them for marketing. We keep correspondence only as long as needed to respond, so the contact form is the only public way to reach us.

Third-party services

This site is hosted on Cloudflare's global network. Cloudflare processes standard request metadata (such as IP address and user agent) for security and delivery purposes under its own privacy policy. We do not send them any information about the files you process, because those files never leave your machine.

Advertising

This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are delivered by Google and do not change how our tools work: your files are still processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded, read, or seen by Google or us.

To deliver and measure ads, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar identifiers, and may process data such as your IP address, browsing behaviour and device information to serve personalised or non-personalised advertising. Google's privacy policy explains how it uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can opt out of personalised ads at google.com/settings/ads, or via the aboutads.info choices page.

Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are shown a Google-certified consent message before personalised ads are served, so you can choose whether to consent. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time via the same consent tool.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes affecting how the site behaves will be highlighted on the homepage.
