Frequently asked questions
Why are my iPhone photos .heic files?
iOS saves camera photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) to roughly halve storage use versus JPG. Windows, older Android apps and many websites still can't read it — conversion fixes that.
Do my photos get uploaded when converting?
No. The HEIC decoder runs inside your browser via WebAssembly. Your photos never leave your device, which matters for private or sensitive shots.
JPG or PNG output?
JPG for everyday sharing — universally compatible. PNG for pixel-perfect quality or if you plan further lossless editing.
Can I convert Live Photos or bursts?
Each .heic file converts as a still image. Live Photo video components are not part of the image file and are ignored.
