Why are my iPhone photos .heic files?

Does JPG output keep transparency?
No — JPG has no alpha channel, so any transparent areas are flattened onto a white background. Most iPhone photos are opaque anyway; if yours has transparency you want to keep, use our HEIC to PNG tool.
Can I convert Live Photos or bursts?
Each .heic file converts as a still image. Live Photo video components are not part of the image file and are ignored.
