Compress PNG Online
Shrink PNGs without losing a single pixel, using OxiPNG — a state-of-the-art lossless optimizer — right in your browser. PNG is the default for screenshots, logos, icons and anything with transparency, but files carry a lot of dead weight: redundant metadata and sloppy compression. OxiPNG re-compresses the image data harder and strips that cruft, and the output stays pixel-identical to your original. Need to go further? Pick a max width and images wider than it get scaled down too. To be straight about it: this works on the 8-bit RGBA data your browser renders, so it's aimed at everyday web images, not archival 16-bit masters — the FAQ has the detail.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser using standard web technology. Your files never leave your computer or phone — you can even disconnect from the internet and it still works.
Is there a file size or usage limit?
No. Since processing happens on your own device, there is nothing to meter. Compress as many files as you like, free of charge, with no watermarks.
Will compression reduce image quality?
PNG is a lossless format. Keeping the original width preserves pixels exactly — re-encoding mainly strips redundant metadata (see the 16-bit note below). Choosing a smaller max width resizes the image, which does reduce dimensions.
What about 16-bit, high-depth or metadata-heavy PNGs?
An honest caveat: this tool works on the 8-bit RGB(A) pixel data your browser renders, so very deep sources (16-bit PNGs) are converted to 8-bit, and auxiliary PNG chunks (gamma, text, palette corrections) are not carried over. For typical web screenshots and graphics this changes nothing you can see. If pixel depth or every chunk matters to you, keep your original — this tool's win is for everyday web images.
What if the result is bigger than the original?
Some PNGs are already fully optimized. If the output ends up larger, just keep your original file — it is never modified or deleted.
How much smaller will my PNG files get?
Typically 10–30% smaller for natural photos, and up to 60%+ for screenshots, icons, and flat graphics with large uniform areas. Results vary by image content.
Can I compress PNGs with transparency?
Yes. Alpha transparency is fully preserved. The optimizer works on the raw image data without affecting the transparency channel.
How does this compare to TinyPNG or other online tools?
Unlike online tools that require uploading your images to their servers, this tool processes everything locally. Your privacy is guaranteed — no third party ever sees your files.
